Thanks to advancements in dentistry, metal dentures are no longer the only way to replace missing teeth.
There's now a more comfortable way. "When several teeth are missing in an arch, a flexible partial is a good option for replacing them," says Dr. Kris Tumilowicz with Dental Dimensions. "They're removable appliances that are held in place by tissue-colored clasps that are fit around the remaining teeth. They help your teeth stop shifting, they balance your bite so you'll chew better, and you'll have a healthier jaw joint."
To create a flexible partial, your dentist will take impressions of your mouth. Then a wax replica is made for you to try. After getting the right fit, a final partial is created.
"The denture isn't bulky so it fits comfortably, and the translucent materials blend in with your natural gums," he says.
With proper home care and regular check-ups, your flexible partial can provide a functional bite and natural-looking smile.
