Tuesday, Oct 27, 2009 @10:19am CDT (Lincoln) -- One of the women accused of helping a murder suspect hide from the police is heading home.
A judge in Lincoln has approved Sara Duncan's release from jail. Duncan is one of two women charged with obstruction of justice in the probe into the murders of the Gee family in the tiny town of Beason in central Illinois. Prosecutors say Duncan lied and provided a false alibi for Christopher Harris, who is the prime suspect in the Gee killings. Duncan's daughter is facing similar charges. Jennifer Earnest also faces obstruction charges related to Chris Harris. Earnest is Jason Harris' girlfriend, and Jason Harris is Chris Harris' brother. Duncan will now return to Florida, her lawyer says she will only return for required court appearances. She's not scheduled for trial until February, but its unclear if that date will actually see the case go before a jury. Prosecutors are not saying how long they think it'll take to make the case against the Harris brothers.
