Monday, Nov 2, 2009 @04:21pm CST (Marrakesh, Morocco) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is telling Iran it has received a last, best and final offer from the world when it comes to Tehran's nuclear program.
During a news conference in Morocco on Monday, Clinton said, quote, "We urge Iran to accept the agreement as proposed. We are not changing it." Iran has indicated it wants to talk a little more about a nuclear deal drafted by the United Nations. The draft requires Iran to send processed nuclear fuel to other nations to be turned into medical isotopes, terms Iran initially seemed to accept. Now a government official is saying more discussions are needed to deal with technical concerns. Western nations view the move as another stalling tactic. The United States, France, Germany, Russia and other nations have indicated their patience is wearing thin. They've signaled new sanctions against Tehran will be considered early next year unless Iran is more forthcoming with details of its nuclear work. A French foreign minister says they are waiting for a reply and if what they receive is aimed at a delay, it won't be accepted. Clinton says this is a, quote, "pivotal moment" for Tehran.
