Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 @11:32am CST (Springfield, IL) -- The Illinois Medical Disciplinary Board has decided a law requiring doctors to tell parents or guardians that their child 17 and under was getting an abortion, can go into effect.
The law had originally been passed in 1995 but a court injunction prevented it from being enforced. In August, a Chicago federal court overturned the injunction. Part of the law allows patients to skip parental notification by going before a judge. ACLU lawyers say they'll try to get a judge to overturn the law, claiming it's unconstitutional.
