Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @08:46am CST (Los Angeles, CA) -- "Golden Girl" Rue McClanahan is said to be recovering in a hospital following heart surgery this week.
A rep for the former "Golden Girls" TV star said McClanahan underwent a heart bypass procedure after her doctor detected an irregular heartbeat on Monday. She was asked to check into a New York hospital. McClanahan is best known for her role as Blanche Devereaux on TV's "The Golden Girls" which also starred Betty White and Bea Arthur who passed away in April of this year. "Maude" and "Mama's Family" are also among McClanahan's TV credits. McClanahan was to be honored at an event in San Francisco, California later this month. Titled "Golden: A Gala Tribute To Rue McClanahan," the November 14th event has reportedly been postponed due to her hospitalization.
