Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @02:41pm CST (Albuquerque, NM) -- A women's soccer player from the University of New Mexico is suspended indefinitely after her extreme rough play Thursday against Brigham Young University.
Head coach Kit Vela announced defender Elizabeth Lambert was banned from all team activities, including practices, game and conditioning activities. During a semifinal match in the Mountain West Conference Championship in Utah, the junior was caught on camera committing various cardable offenses, including hitting players in the back, making hard tackles and pulling one BYU player to the ground by her ponytail. Vela said Lambert's actions crossed the line of good sportsmanship. In a statement, the player called her actions uncalled for and said she regretted them. She apologized to both teams for her conduct.
