(Kent County, RI) -- Opening statements are expected today in the case involving James Woods.

The "Casino" actor is suing a Rhode Island hospital for the 2006 death of his younger brother, Michael.

The younger man passed away at Kent Hospital in Warwick after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 49.

In papers filed in Kent County Superior Court, Woods claims his brother died after receiving negligent medical care.

The lawsuit seeks an unknown amount in damages.
