Monday, Nov 16, 2009 @01:32pm CST (Paris) -- Oscar-winning filmmaker Clint Eastwood is adding "commander of the French Legion of Honor" to his many accolades.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy bestowed the title on the 79-year-old actor during a ceremony in Paris on Friday. The French Legion of Honor is one of France's greatest awards. Coupled with the title "commander," the honor puts Eastwood in rarified air above the "knight" or "officer" titles traditionally given to foreign-born directors. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Eastwood did not have to travel far to receive his honor. He has been spending time in London of late, filming his next movie "Hereafter" with Matt Damon.
