Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @09:23am CST (Rome) -- A party invite from Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi turned out not to have much to do with partying. About 200 women answered a modeling agency's ad for beautiful, statuesque women to attend what was touted to be a swanky party at an elegant Rome hotel last Sunday. The women found out quickly that the party was being hosted by the eccentric ruler. But instead of hors d'oeuvres Qaddafi served up copies of the Koran and implored them to convert to Islam. Qaddafi also offered to pay for them to visit Mecca. He then delivered a long-winded 45-minute speech on Islam and the role women play in the religion. Each woman also received a copy of Qaddafi's "Green Book," which details his political philosophy. Qaddafi was in Rome for the World Summit on Food Security.
