Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @02:28pm CST (Newark, NJ) -- A New Jersey teenager has been sentenced to prison for participating in a cyber attack against the Church of Scientology's websites.
Dmitriy Guzner is headed to prison for a year and a day after previously pleading guilty to a charge of unauthorized impairment of a protected computer. Prosecutors say the now 19-year-old Guzner was part of a group called Anonymous, which led the cyber attack against the Church of Scientology's websites in 2006. The group was able to shut the website down for some time and the church had to hire an outside group to protect itself from cyber attacks. Guzner also has to pay over 37-thousand dollars in restitution to the Church of Scientology.
