Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @02:57pm CST (San Diego, CA) -- Reward funds are filling up in San Diego, California as local and federal law enforcement agencies try to track down a man known as "The Geezer Bandit." That's the name given by San Diego police detectives to a retirement-age man allegedly responsible for pulling off five armed robberies at area banks since August.
The man, described as thin and gray-haired in his 70s struck again Monday at a Bank of America branch in nearby La Jolla. His first heist was recorded on August 28th at a bank 20 miles from there. Other depositories have been hit in between at a rate of roughly one each month. The FBI says in several of the robberies, the stubble-faced thief displayed a handgun. Three rewards totaling 16-thousand dollars are now being offered to the person who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of "The Geezer Bandit."
