Thursday, Nov 19, 2009 @08:50am CST (New Delhi) -- The Indian government is investigating whether two men recently arrested in Chicago on terrorism charges may have had a hand in the Mumbai terror attacks of a year ago.
Forty-nine-year-old David Coleman Headley and 48-year-old Tahawwur Hussain Rana, both Pakistani natives, have been charged with plotting to attack a Danish newspaper that published cartoons of the prophet Muhammed. The "Chicago Tribune" reports that detectives from India believe Headley may also have led scouting missions to Mumbai for the Pakistan-based Lashkar-i-Taiba terror group. Indian authorities say Headley scoped out two luxury hotels, the touristy Leopold Cafe and Mumbai's main train station, where the November 26th assault began. They allege Headley may also have posed as a Jew to spy on the Chabad House, a Jewish outreach center.
