Rockford, Illinois - A local auto body shop has switched gears and gone green. Auto Body Specialists now uses Autowave. It's a water-borne solvent used to paint cars, as opposed to the traditional solvent-borne spray. The company made the switch in January of this year. The owner says it releases less volatile organic compounds, or VOC’s, into the air.
"The product released up into the atmosphere is tremendously less,” explains Todd Liston. “It’s far better for the employees, for the atmosphere, for everyone involved."
The new Autowave system produces no odor, and the customer will not pay more for the eco-friendly service.
