Friday, Nov 20, 2009 @09:01am CST (Washington, DC) -- A congressional advisory panel says that Chinese cyber-spying on U.S. government and defense computer networks is on the rise.
The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission told congress Thursday that China is the world's leader in espionage against America. The report indicates that last year, the Chinese government turned over much of its control for computer network operations to the People's Liberation Army, and that cyber-spying appears to have spiked as a result. The bipartisan commission was formed in 2000 to monitor the implications of increased trade with China. Chinese officials have not yet responded to the report.
