CCS and seven other Illinois grantees were among 62 grant recipients. The money comes as part of a $55 million green jobs grant authorized by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The grants are designed to support job training and labor market information programs to help workers to find jobs in expanding green industries. "We are looking forward to moving Rockford and Winnebago County into the new 'green economy'," said CCS Executive Director, Kerry Knodle. "We are looking both training our existing workforce, but also finding ways to create jobs and spur economic development in the region." CCS operates workforce development, housing and community development programs, and runs the YouthBuild Rockford program. |
