Tuesday, Nov 24, 2009 @10:02am CST (Las Vegas, NV) -- An ex-Las Vegas supervisor for the political advocacy group ACORN has been placed on probation for his part in a plan to pay canvassers to register Nevada voters during last year's presidential campaign.
After pleading guilty in August to two gross misdemeanor charges of conspiracy, Christopher Edwards was sentenced yesterday to up to three years probation. In September, Edwards said that ACORN canvassers making eight dollars an hour were given bonuses of five dollars per shift if they produced 21 or more registration cards. Edwards is expected to be an important witness when the group's former regional director Amy Busefink goes on trial in April.
