Wednesday, Nov 25, 2009 @12:56pm CST (Fort Hood, TX) -- A task force commissioned by the Pentagon to probe the Fort Hood shooting rampage began their investigation on Tuesday.
The group will be at Fort Hood for 45 days gathering information that will lead to a list of policies that could prevent a similar attack in the future. Togo West, who served as Secretary of the Army during the Clinton administration, and former Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Vernon Clark, are spearheading the review. At a news conference, both affirmed the task force's investigation was not a criminal probe. Instead, they said one of the group's jobs is to review the performance of first responders. Meanwhile, the man accused of killing 13 and wounding 30 others in the attack remains hospitalized at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Army Major Nidal Hasan is reportedly paralyzed from the chest down after being shot by police. Military officials are planning to seek the death penalty for Hasan.
