(Kinsman, IL) -- Two Illinois men are facing hate crime charges after they allegedly beat a Muslim man connected to a terror suspect.

Grundy County Police say Scott Finch and Luke Harty attacked Faud Nafie outside a bar in Kinsman, Illinois, early Sunday morning.

Police also say Finch told them he was defending the U.S. from "terrorists."

Nafie works at a goat and sheep farm and processing plant owned by Tahawwur Rana.

Rana is charged with terrorism for allegedly funding a plot against a Danish newspaper that published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

Nafie is not connected to that case.
