(St. Augustine, FL) -- A Florida school board is being sued by the parents of two third graders who say the religious-themed song planned for an end-of-the-year program at a St. Augustine school amounts to religious indoctrination.
The district's superintendent pulled the song as soon as he got a complaint from a parent about "In God We Still Trust." The "Florida Times Union" reports that the parents' lawyer says they are still entitled to damages because their children had to learn the song.
The song, which was recorded by the country group Diamond Rio, talks about God's place in American history and decries attempts to secularize society.
The suit was filed about a month after students at the school began practicing "In God We Still Trust" for a year-end assembly.
