Even if you weren't born with a beautiful smile, you can still have one, thanks to what dentists refer to as cosmetic dentistry.
"The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to turn an average smile into a terrific smile," says Dr. Kris Tumilowicz, with Dental Dimensions. "It's done by analyzing every aspect of the smile, and then correcting the problems."
He says beautiful smiles have several things in common. "The teeth are straight, not crooked, evenly spaced, without gaps. They're nice and white, not stained. And the top teeth show when you smile, but not the gums."
There's cosmetic procedures to solve just about any problem.
"For some patients, they'll just do some whitening, straightening, or a combo of both," he says. "Perhaps, they'll use cosmetic veneers or porcelain crowns."
After just a few visits, the difference can be dramatic.
