    Green Gadgets

What do you do with your old gadgets?
I recycle them through an electronics recycling service
I give them away to Goodwill or a friend
     I sell them on eBay/Craigslist
They're gathering dust in the back of my closet
     I throw them away (yikes!)

  • Green Prison in Indiana

PUTNAMVILLE, INDIANA - The Putnamville Correctional facility in Greencastle is now the first prison in the state to use a wind turbine to reduce costs.  The plan was made possible by a correctional facility worker. Before Larry Lazart passed away he envisioned saving the state of Indiana money, by going green.  On Wednesday, before a tent filled of correctional facility workers and Lazart's family, part of his plan came true.  The average life expectancy for this type of wind turbine is around 25 years. It is predicted to save 50 million dollars over the next decade.  In addition to the wind turbine, the Putnamville Correctional Facility has upgraded their lighting, installed a biomass boiler and an automated temperature control system.  Commissioner David Donahue says it's going green that has reduced the cost of housing inmates.
