Reported by: Nicole Kilmer Monday, Mar 10, 2008 @07:15pm CDT WTVO/WQRF - Officials for EcoEnergy and the Northern Illinois Municipal Power Agency (NIMPA) have signed an agreement for NIMPA to on and/or operate a part of the EcoBryn wind energy facility proposed in Ogle County.
The proposed EcoBryn facility will generate about 100 MW of pollution-free electrical energy, enough to power more than 28,000 homes each year. Under the agreement, NIMPA will own 10 to 15 MW of turbines built as part of the EcoBryn project. The wind is an endlessly renewable and pollution-free source of electricity. It is the fastest-growing segment of the energy industry today and the least expensive form of large-scale renewable energy. It's estimated that EcoBryn will generate more than $500,000 a year in property taxes to support Ogle County services and education. |
