Reported by: Nicole Kilmer Friday, Mar 21, 2008 @06:30pm CDT WTVO/WQRF - Going green might cost you some green. A new poll shows about half the country doesn't want to pay an extra gas tax designed to fight climate change. How much more would you pay at the pump, to save the planet? Polls repeatedly show a majority of Americans support policies that reduce green house gases. But it's a different story when it comes to paying for it. Our biggest polluter is the car, so democratic congressman John Dingell proposes a fifty cent tax on every gallon of gas sold to cut consumption. But a new poll shows... 48% say we won't pay a penny more to reduce pollution. 28% would pay up to 50 cents. 10% more than 50. 8% more than a dollar. |
