The metropolitan Washington, DC suburb came in at number 30-on the list. In fact, Alexandria and Newport News, which came in at number 41, are the only cities in relative proximity to the nation's capital to make the list. The survey used data and government statistics in categories including air quality, electricity use, transportation habits, number of green buildings and recycling programs. Portland, Oregon ranked first on the list. |
