Reported by: Nicole Kilmer Wednesday, Jul 29, 2009 @08:54pm CDT BELOIT, WI - Wisconsin is thinking green. The Department of Workforce Development Secretary, Roberta Gassman, announced a new "green jobs" project. Members of a team of five from the Beloit area are called Energy Advocates. They are all between 18 and 24 years old. Their job is teaching others to save energy and money.
"The young people who are doing this work come into the homes, explains Secretary Gassman. “They spend about 45 to 60 minutes with the homeowners and are able to use special equipment and determine where energy is being lost." The program is funded through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. |
