    Green Gadgets

What do you do with your old gadgets?
I recycle them through an electronics recycling service
I give them away to Goodwill or a friend
     I sell them on eBay/Craigslist
They're gathering dust in the back of my closet
     I throw them away (yikes!)

(Elgin, Illinois) - According to a new study, the wind energy industry in Illinois is projected to generate $1.9 billion in economic benefits for the state over the next 25 years.  To meet the growing demand for alternative and renewable energy sources, Winergy Drive Systems Corp., a Siemens company, officially opened a new multi-million dollar green manufacturing facility in Elgin, IL.

The largest producer of wind turbine gear drives in the world, Winergy, has invested more than $20 million to develop the plant for the assembly and testing of mechanical gear drives. The plant is one of the first in Illinois to receive environmental LEED certification and was built using recycled steel.  It was also designed with energy efficient lighting and heating and cooling systems that are expected to save $500,000 annually in energy costs and reduce  annual water use by 250,000 gallons.

The new plant will create approximately 300 new “green” jobs in production and 55 new office jobs over the next three to four years.
