  • Web Extra: Teal Ribbons for Sydney Ives
    Reported by: Charles Vance

    Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @04:21pm CST

(Rockford) -- Teal ribbons are hanging from trees around Rockford and on the other side of the world.
The ribbons are for 11-year-old Sydney Ives who's in her final days of terminal cancer.
Teal is her favorite color and what started as a way to see who in town was praying for her, quickly spread around the world via the internet.
Her family says it's Sydney's way of sharing God's love.
"She has just been able to remain at peace and calm and faithful through her whole journey," says Sydney's mom, Tasha Ives, "and it makes us proud to know she's able to share that with the rest of the world."
The Ives are celebrating Christmas early since time is short.
You can share your thoughts and prayers on their website ivestrong.com .
