Just as Rockford Public schools are preparing to implement their truancy intervention center, leaders from the district and the community are heading down state for a drop-out prevention program.  Organizers say every school day 7,000 kids drop out of school in the US. Rockford's truancy numbers were down last year, but still nearly 2,000 kids skipped more than 18 days of class.

“Obviously we need to see our children go on to finish their education, move into higher learning, college, vocational schools, careers, business ownership and it doesn’t happen when you drop out,” says nCenter teen program director Gerald Lott.
