Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @08:12am CST Chicago-Illinois' parental notification law is back on hold. A Chicago judge issued a temporary restraining order delaying the enforcement of it. Passed in 1995, it requires doctors to notify parents of teens 17 years and younger seeking an abortion. Opponents are relieved by the injunction saying it would cause more harm then good, but pro life activists plan to fight the decision. If the law does eventually go into effect, it has provisions that allow girls to bypass parental notification. They include sexual abuse and medical emergency.
