Thursday, Nov 5, 2009 @08:18am CST Springfield-First it was the Democrats, now Illinois' Republican party is trying to limit attack ads in the upcoming primary. Leaders told candidates the state party will "clamp down" on any campaign commercials that "cross the line." They say they're encouraged by Republican wins in other states and want to continue that success. However, they're not saying how the party will police commercials. Earlier this week, Governor Quinn called a TV commercial truce with opponent Dan Hynes, but Hynes declined the offer.
