  • Local Rockford Group Helps Mentor Children Of Convicts
    Reported by: Doug Peer

    Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @04:00pm CST

Rockford- A local group is trying to stop the family cycle of crime. Patriots Gateway received a $240,000 grant to mentor children of prisoners.
The program will give children one-on-one support over a three year span. The idea is to give children a positive influence in their life.
"Our youth need positive role models. From the crime, we can look at the crime rate and tell something's going wrong. And hopefully by this being the first program this is just a jump start," says Dorothy Felton Coordinator, Mentoring Children of Prisoners
If you would like to be a mentor just stop by Patriots Gateway and ask for Dorothy.
