Reported by: Alex Shabad Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @09:07pm CST "I stop by like six times a day everyday to show my respects" says victim’s friend, Raven Clay. Visits to the memorial were non-stop. Next to the stuffed animals and flowers those close to the teenagers paid their respects. "It’s good to see people care i didn't think people care anymore" says victim’s god sister, Indi Iqbar. And outside the home where police say the two teenagers were killed the Rockford Minister’s Fellowship said a prayer. "The purpose of the prayer is for the community to appeal to young people to stop and think before you act before you kill" says Reverend Louis Malone. Police say 19 year old Nathan Melendez Torrance and 16 year old Deangelo Link were shot during a Halloween party. "He’s in a better place now we don't have to worry about him on the streets he's somewhere better" says Iqbar. Two others at the party were also shot but have been treated and released from the hospital. And now, police are looking for at least two suspects. "The two who committed the crime will be caught and once they're caught we've lost 4 young people in the community” says reverend Malone. And while this religious group prays together, some in the community are hoping on their own. "They arrest the people who did this and the violence stops in the community" says Clay. |
