(Bronx, NY) -- New York's missing cobra didn't slither far from home after all.
Bronx Zoo officials say they caught the deadly critter in the House of Reptiles today.
Zoo director Jim Breheny said their only strategy was patience, and they waited until the snake felt secure enough to explore her surroundings.
The 20-inch-long female Egyptian cobra gave zookeepers the slip last Friday and promptly wound her way into urban legend.
A phony Twitter feed drew 200-thousand followers, including Mayor Michael Bloomberg, with its humorous accounts of the scaly she-beast sinking her fangs into the Big Apple.
The real snake will be observed to make sure she's okay after her week at large.
