(Kabul) -- More violent protests are shaking Kabul today, despite President Obama's apology over the Koran-burning incident at the largest NATO base in Afghanistan.

The latest round of angry demonstrations broke out after the midday prayer near a mosque where a crowd of more than a thousand people gathered and gunfire was heard.

Another crowd of about four-thousand people, armed with rocks and sticks, surged along a road east of Kabul later in the day.
