(Jalalabad) -- Another day of violence in Afghanistan.
A car bomb exploded earlier today at the entrance to an airbase in the eastern section of the country, killing at least nine people.
The dead are reported to have all been Afghans.
The bloodshed follows several days of deadly protests in the wake of the burning of Muslim holy books at NATO's main military base.
Six U.S. service members were wounded Sunday by a grenade thrown by angry protesters.
The day before, two American military officers were gunned down and two more troops were killed last Thursday, apparently in retaliation for the Koran burning.
