Report: 26 States, DC, Want Out Of No Child Left Behind

   Dozens of states are making moves to free themselves from the No Child Left Behind Act.
   "Education Week" reports 26 states and the District of Columbia have applied for waivers from the much-criticized federal education law.
   The George W. Bush-era initiative set testing requirements.
   Eleven states have already won waivers from the law by agreeing to a number of Obama administration education reforms.
   New York, Illinois and Ohio are among the states applying for relief from No Child Left Behind in the latest round.
   The others are Arkansas, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
