The first week of April has been violent in the city of Rockford.

The city's first two murders each took place this week.

Tuesday night Police found 19-year-old Lavontaye Nunn in the courtyard of the Blackhawk Apartment Complex.

Nunn died after being shot multiple times.

Then on Thursday night just before 10 o' clock officers arrived at

1125 8th Street
, after a 911 call was made from the house.

They found 41-year old John Jones on the floor in the kitchen, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Jones died also.
