The fire is believed to have started in the Dollar General store at the Meadow Mart Village shopping center.

Neighboring businesses had to be evacuated and several of them suffered smoke damage.

One fire fighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion.  Besides battling the blaze, heat was a major concern.  The Red Cross provided water and fire fighters were working in shifts to stay cool and hydrated.

It took fire crews a little more than three hours to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  Arson investigators were called to the scene and assisted the Loves Park Fire Department in their investigation.

It is believed that the store is a complete loss.  However the store manager, Carrie Taylor, says they do plan to rebuild and reopen as soon as possible.
