Energy Supply Scammers Prey on Elderly Residents

In June, the city
released a statement warning citizens that energy suppliers were
misrepresenting themselves as the city's new energy supplier.
At tonight's city
council meeting several Aldermen mentioned they're still receiving complaints from
constituents, many who have entered contracts with these companies.
Now city leaders are
questioning the legality of these companies pressuring residents to enter
agreements saying they're preying on the elderly.
"Any time you coerce
somebody into doing something by misinformation I don't think that's a valid
contract and those people should be allowed out of those contracts with no
penalties," said 4th Ward Alderman Carl Wasco.
