Waiting to renew their license plates and stickers turned into hours of frustration.
A spokesperson for Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White believes the wait time is standard during this time of year.
He hopes to pick up the pace of services once the new location opens up near Baxter Road and Interstate 39 in early September.
But some residents say, that location is already an inconvenience.
"The one in Baxter? I'm not going to... Baxter is not a handy location," said retired firefighter Mike Phelan.
Phelan isn't the only one who feels that way.
"Baxter and I-39? I don't think so that's pretty far and with gas prices being what they are. I'll just go to the closet one which is here [E. State St.]," said Kim Haywort.
The state says, the new location will serve as a better access for truck drivers because it's so close to a major interstate. It will also continue to serve C-D-L drivers as well.
