Rockford, Illinois-The Rockford Park District has announced three inductees this year for the Greater Rockford Golf Hall of Fame.
They are John Robertson, Steve Benjamin and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Robertson was a four-time Men's City Champion before moving to Ohio in 2006. He won 15 local major tounaments in his career including the Ledges Invitational a record six times.
Benjamin won the Ballard Tournament twice and the County Amateur Championship. He was also the runnerup for the Men's City in 1985. He's best known though as the head coach of the highly success Rock Valley College Golf Program. RVC has gone to Nationals seven times winning twice. Benjamin is also the father of pro golfer Brad Benjamin.
The Tigers Woods Foundation made two appearances in Rockford putting on clinics in 2001 and 2004. Woods himself appeared at the 2001 clinich at Ingersoll before a large crowd. That event raised $154,000 for youth golf in the Stateline.
The Golf Hall of Fame playday and induction dinner will be held September 24th at the Radison Hotel.
