Janesville Wisconsin's hometown hero attended a home coming party Monday, Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan hosted a send-off rally before making the trip to Florida for the Republican National Convention.

Since Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate, he's become an instant home town hero in Janesville, WI.

"I'm really excited that he's on the ticket," said Paul Ryan supporter Dannie Shear.

Those who came out to Ryan's homecoming rally on Monday say the country is headed in the wrong direction.

"I'm very concerned about my grandchildren," said Paul Ryan support Deborah Moore.

"We are tired of what's been happening in Washington," said Paul Ryan support Julie Broda.

Janesville was once considered an industrial center, but now has one of the highest unemployment rates in Wisconsin.

"We've been hit hard, we got a hard knock," said Ryan.  "But we are hardy people and we will recover from this."

Small businesses in Janesville are struggling, businesses Ryan says he's looking to save.

"Help people in need, give them the job training skills they have to have," said Ryan.  "Flourish entrepreneurs and small business, so people can get back on their feet."

Just the message Dannie Shear, who owns Beloit Ready Mix a cement company, says he's been waiting to hear.

"I don't have any more hope, and with these guys, I know their going to get us in the right direction," said Shear.

And even with Ryan on the verge of becoming a political star, people in Janesville aren't worried that he'll forget his roots in the process.

"Everything about him seems to be one of loyalty, faithfulness," Paul Ryan supporter Peggy McShane.

From Janesville, Ryan will head to Tampa Bay Florida for the Republican National Convention.  While there he's expected to give the biggest speech of his career on Wednesday, as he gets officially nominated as the republican candidate for vice president.
