Rockford, Illinois- Rockford saw a sneak peak tonight during the premier of a new documentary about the citys dinosaur, Jane. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is housed at the Burpee Museum in Rockford.
The films producer, Dave Monk said, "one guy says one thing, another guy says something different and they believe they have the evidence to back it up," and that is how the controversy over Jane the Dinosaur began.
Monk followed the debate over what kind of dinosaur Jane really was, while making his documentary Mystery Dinosaur. "I personally think it`s an interesting part of the film."
In old Hollywood style, complete with vintage cars and 1940s inspired music, the film debuted at the Coronado Theater.
Movie posters, Jane T-shirts and even stuffed animals were sold tonight, but some say the economic benefit of Mystery Dinosaur is just beginning.
"People from China, Korea, Germany France- they`re all going to come here! It`s a fantastic place," says Burpee Museum President Lew Crampton.
Only time will tell after the film releases onto television this summer.
"It`s a fantastic story, a Rockford story- as Lew Crampton says- about the little museum that could," says Rockford Mayor Larry Morissey.
