A Stateline Company LooksTo Expand And Hire More More Workers

(Afolkey, Illinois) A Stateline company is changing its manufacturing focus to producing a healthier type of food product, and the Stateline is seeing more jobs as a result. Berner Foods in Stephenson County has been in business for over 60 years and has made millions of dollars producing natural cheese. Now they are starting to focus on producing milk based health food beverages. Berner President and CEO Stephen Kneubuehl says he thinks the new beverages will be big sellers and adds, "We call them "neutraceutical", a combination of nutritional and pharmaceutical, where they have vitamins added to them, or they might be a supplemental drink." Since January Berner Foods has increased its workforce from approximately 240 workers to 280. They are continuing to take applications for machine operating jobs, and hope to hire another 50 to 60 people, who will earn between 12 to 13 dollars an hour.
