Major improvements and additions are planned for Rockford`s Klehm Arboretum.
Tuesday afternoon plans for a new Gateway Park, arboretum entry, Grand Meadow Garden Development, and improvements to the arboretum`s visitor center were unveiled.
The new plan will make the Klehm Arboretum more visible to those driving by on South Main Street, and should increase interest and visitors to the 155 acre living museum.
Arboretum officials, including Executive Director Brent Dennis say the project will make the southwest side facility more popular than ever. Dennis adds, "This is just our opportunity to reach out and be a much more visible entity for Klehm and the community."
Dennis adds the cost of Klehm`s portion of the project will run between one to two million dollars and they expect to begin work on the project during the summer of 2007.
