Rockford- There`s a new twist to a plan that changes the way Rockford students are assigned schools.
Wilson school would be the most affected.
It would no longer be a middle school.
Instead, Wilson would be a campus for 9th graders going to Auburn High School.
The new program would be called "Freshmen Foundation".
District officials believe moving freshmen to a separate location would improve their academics and discipline issues.
But during Tuesday night`s school board meeting, some members expressed doubts about the plan.
In fact, some board members wanted to scrap the new student assignment plan that also calls for attendance zones and continue the choice system for another year.
After an hour long debate, the board decided to hold off on a decision and take a vote January 23rd.
In the meantime, a public forum on the student assignent plan is scheduled for January 16th at a place yet to be determined.
