Rockford, Illinois- The snow has fallen again and the shovels are out. Plows are pushing snow out of the way too.
Dance Winger Landscape Construction works with about a dozen commercial businesses around town. "We`re under contract with them so that when it snows, we just go out and do the job," says Mike Hahn. This year they have been more busy than usual. "As much as I don`t like the snow personally, for the business it`s been good."
While Dance Winger is working on removing snow from local businesses, companies like Keeling Landscape are cleaning up driveways and residential sidewalks.
"It`s been a pretty good year this year. It`s kept us busy," says Kevin Keeling.
Both companies welcome the snow, because it brings in cash, but it is a lot of work.
"Everybody`s out there," says Keeling, "they`ve been out there for 20-30 hours straight, no breaks. I mean you can stop get something to eat then you`re right back out there in the truck."
Keeling says for those residents who do not have a contract with a company, call early if snow is expected, otherwise you could be waiting 12 to 24 hours.
"I know people get upset if you don`t get plowed out right away, but what they don`t understand is - there`s only so many trucks," says Keeling.
That means you might want to pick up the phone, because more snow is on the way.
"The last few years have been slim-picking on snowplowing, so we`re happy to see it snow," says Hahn.
A typical driveway costs between $25 to $30 to plow.
