Stateline Veterans Say They Want Better Medical Care From Veterans Administration

By: Import User
Updated: March 1, 2007
(Rockford, Illinois) Many Stateline veterans who were wounded in combat say they`re frustrated by the quality of medical care they are getting from the Veterans Administration. Walter Schmitt was an Army Sergeant serving in Iraq when he suffered a head wound in 2003. He says his care by the Army was excellent but once the Veterans Administration took over he ran into major problems. Schmitt adds, "The hospital, the health care is substandard. I`ve had about 8 doctors in the last three months. It takes months to get a doctor`s appointment." WTVO contacted the Veterans Administration in Madison for comment on this story but they declined comment at this time.
