Man Remains Jailed in Connection with Schiavo Case

Rockford, Illinois- Friday is the one-year anniversary of Terri Schiavo`s death.
It was just more than a year ago that a Rockford man planned on trying to "rescue" Schiavo by stealing a gun in Florida.
Michael Mitchell was arrested for allegedly trying to rob the gun shop in Florida with a box cutter.
Mitchell`s mother Pat says she last talked to her jailed son a few weeks ago, and hopes he`ll be released soon.
Pat Mitchell adds, "I don`t want him to have done this for nothing. But I don`t want him to go back to jail and stay there. I want him out. I`m hoping whatever kind of deal they work out is fine with me."
Pat Mitchell adds her son recently underwent a court ordered psychological evaluation that found him competent to stand trial. She says she hopes the case will be resolved soon and her son will be placed on probation and allowed to return home to Rockford in about three months.
