Springfield - The Legislative Scholarship Program is on the chopping block.

Illinois lawmakers are discussing a proposal to eliminate the program because of abuse.  They say there have been several instances where lawmakers themselves gave tuition waivers to their friends, family members, or financial supporters.

Gov. Pat Quinn supports the idea.

He says the state should consider giving more MAP grants instead to help needy students afford college.
